Practical Solutions: Aboriginal Housing Study
Former Keating Government Minister Hon Dr Gary Johns from ACIL Tasman is undertaking a study examining Aboriginal housing needs in remote communities. Johns’ research is focused on the need for towns to plan for the migration of Aboriginal populations from remote communities to seek work.

Women and the Federal Liberal Party by Margaret Fitzherbert
The Centre has commissioned Margaret Fitzherbert, author of the acclaimed Liberal Women: Federation to 1949, to write about the background, achievements and contributions of women in the Liberal Party.

Her work will examine the role of women in Cabinet , the Ministry and the policies pursued by the Liberal Party which have a special significance for women. The book is being published by Federation Press.

Don’t leave us with the Bill The case against bills of rights in Australia
Victoria and the ACT have recently introduced statutory bills of rights. Western AustraliaTasmania are planning to adopt the same proposals. Robert McClelland has indicated that the Federal Government will seek to adopt a national Bill of rights. These bills of rights have met with almost no opposition and yet they will shift the power over political issues to Courts and away from Parliaments.
